Support for Dead Cells Ends Soon, after More than Half a Decade

After several years of game updates, DLC, and software support, it looks like support for the hit action game “Dead Cells” will soon cease, according to developer Motion Twin. The game’s final update will be “Update 35,” which will roll out this year. Part of Motion Twin’s post reads:

“Update 35 for Dead Cells marks the end of our creative journey on the game. After an incredible 5-year collaboration in bringing additional content to Dead Cells’ live-ops, Evil Empire will be pursuing new adventures and we can’t wait to see what they come up next. This comes after much reflection, especially following the awesome success of the “Return to Castlevania” DLC last year… With all that said, we are committed to continuing the journey in this amazing world with some really cool new stuff outside of the original game, so that more and more people can enjoy Dead Cells in totally new ways.”

For those unfamiliar, Dead Cells is an action side-scroller that incorporates swift combat and rogue-like elements for fast-paced gameplay. You gain abilities and weapons, and while the game has been tailored to work with a touch screen for mobile devices, the Android port offers support for external third-party controllers as well, so you can still get more “precise” input when playing.

Available for several platforms including consoles, PC and mobile, the game’s most recent in-game update featured the “Return to Castlevania” DLC, a sort of “full circle” transition for the game.
