Redmi Watch 4, Redmi Buds 5 Pro and Buds 5 go global

Originally launched in November, the new Redmi watch and Buds have made their way to international markets. These are more affordable than their Xiaomi counterparts, but are still quite capable.

The Redmi Watch 4 is the largest square Redmi watch that we’ve seen yet with a 1.97” AMOLED display (450 x 390px) and is the first with a stainless steel crown, though the chassis is made out of aluminum alloy. Note that the new model also comes with a new quick release mechanism for the straps.

The Redmi Watch 4 has built-in GPS, a heart rate plus SpO2 sensor and is waterproof up to 5ATM (50m). Also note that unlike the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, this one doesn’t run Wear OS but proprietary software (dubbed HyperOS, but it’s not Google-based like the phone branch).

Here are the prices in several countries where the watch can already be ordered. Note that you may be able to score a coupon and make the final price a bit lower (5-10% less or so).

The elevator pitch for the Redmi Buds 5 Pro goes like this: LDAC and 52dB ANC. If you can’t decode that, LDAC is a high quality audio codec, while Active Noise Cancellation reduces noise (52dB is quite a bit in this price range).

Also, AI can automatically pick between three transparency modes. The buds promise 10 hours of continuous playback time and the case brings the total time to 38 hours.

The Redmi Buds 5 also have ANC, though it’s not as capable – it reduces noise by 46dB (which is still pretty good). There’s no LDAC support, though. Battery life is basically the same – you can get 10 hours out of the buds and up to 40 hours with the extra charges from the case (note: these numbers are for listening with ANC disabled).
