Polestar’s Upcoming Phone is Actually a Rebranded Chinese Device

Over the past few weeks, there have been rumors that vehicle manufacturer Polestar is preparing to launch its own smartphone, currently known among tech circles as the “Polestar Phone.” With that being said, a closer look reveals that there’s more to the device itself.

Based on an IMEI listing spotted online, it looks like the Polestar Phone is actually a rebranded Meizu 20 Infinity, which sports a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset inside. For those unfamiliar with the brand, Meizu is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that is under Geely subsidiaries, the same corporation that subsidizes Polestar.

The listing shows that the Polestar Phone comes with model number M329S, while the Meizu 20 Infinity carries the model number M392Q, strongly indicating that both phones are variants of the same device. In addition the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Polestar Phone will pack a 6.79-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits of peak brightness, as well as a 50MP main camera and 4,800 mAh battery.

At the moment though no release date or pricing has been mentioned, so folks interested in getting a Polestar-branded Android phone will have to wait a bit more for any formal announcements from the brand itself.
