Google officially stopped sticking to its “first Monday of the month” schedule for releasing Android updates last year, but here we are on a first Monday of a month and – you guessed it – there’s a new update out.
All Pixels that are still supported are starting to receive this one over-the-air, though as usual it should be noted that Google’s rollouts are notoriously slow, so it might be at least a few days, if not more, before every single eligible Pixel out there gets the notification.
After installation, you’ll be on software version UQ1A.240205.002 on all global models except the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro which get UQ1A.240205.004. Verizon models all get UQ1A.240205.002.A1 except the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro which have UQ1A.240205.004.A1. SoftBank Japan models all get UQ1A.240205.002.B1 except for the – say it with us – Pixel 8 and 8 Pro which have UQ1A.240205.004.B1.
The update comes with general improvements for system stability and performance, camera improvements on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, a fix for the display getting corrupted in certain conditions on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, a fix for an issue with the outer display on the Pixel Fold, general improvements for Wi-Fi stability and performance on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, and a fix for stability and performance issues with “certain third party apps” on all devices.
