As far as mobile spin-off games go, none go as hard as Square Enix (SE) when launching spin-offs of its vast amount of video game IPs. As such, there are times when the company does take down some of its software from mobile storefronts, and it looks like its Nier Automata spin-off will be the next one to go.
More specifically, Square Enix’s free-to-play RPG “Nier Reincarnation” will be shutting down in April, according to the company. The game’s story will end with the release of the the Finale: Reincarnation update on March 28. After that, the app service will be terminated on April 29. According to Square Enix’s official announcement:
“We regret to inform you that NieR Re[in]carnation will be ending service with the conclusion of The People and the World.
The final chapter of The People and the World is planned to be released Mar. 28, 2024. The game will run for a month following the final chapter’s release until Apr. 29, 2024 22:00 PST when service will officially end. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our players for your patronage over the 2.5 years since we launched on July 28, 2021.
Until the end of service, we will continue to add content and characters, as well as hold various events and campaigns, so we hope you will continue to enjoy NieR Re[in]carnation until the end.”
One of the biggest names in the gaming industry, SE is no stranger to integrating current trends such as free-to-play and gacha mechanics into its mobile games. Earlier this month, SE President Takashi Kiryu stated that the company will be “aggressive” in applying AI technologies into its content development and publishing functions.
